Today 6th November is National Stress Awareness Day. Stress can be a real killer in the workplace and in our busy, day-to-day lives. It certainly serves its purpose in human biology but modern life has brought about a surplus of causes that can contribute to ill health if we don't manage it appropriately.
Prevention is key by making self care part of your daily routine but recognising your stress reaction and knowing the signs can serve as your cue for engaging in a take-charge approach. Some of these signs to look out for may include:
Insomnia
Fatigue
Tension in the body
Being more critical
Indecisiveness
Headaches
Irritability
Negativity
Problems concentrating
Indigestion
Procrastination
Feelings of despair
Chest pains
Think of the last time you felt under stress - what the circumstances and the symptoms you experienced?
Prevention through regular practices that keep stress levels in check, will build up resilience and help you to manage work and home stresses when they arise.
We deliver weekly sessions in the workplace that include movement, mindfulness and breathwork. Staff take out just 30 mins from their day to move their body, stretch out, release tension and relax their mind with some meditation which includes a body scan and breath work.
The feedback has been amazing in just a few weeks! With consistency in practice, staff attending sessions have reported a greater sense of calm, better sleep and more focus and concentration at work.
If you would like to know more ... get in touch. We would love to have that opportunity to make a difference to your team.
